Gales on Soil Hill. p.m.

Look out girls, the yanks are coming.

                                Plenty Reed Buntings present

Sedge Warbler, 1 hour sat in wet grass and howling wind
                                 for this pathetic photo.
Reed Buntings were more obliging  .

1500 hrs and up onto Soil Hill to find the wind still howling with a W>6-7 and odd pockets of sunshine.
The summit was blown clear of birds so decided to check what passerines could be found passing through lower down the slopes.
Not my best of ideas with the wind keeping everything well down in the undergrowth although Reed Buntings did,nt seem to mind the conditions with 5 showing.
A quick burst of Sedge Warbler song made me stop in my tracks then a few seconds sighting made me decide to settle down in the grass and wait.
After 1 hour I had managed about 10 sightings of around 2 seconds each and had taken about 50 photos of Brambles either with blurred birds on or no birds at all. Had it been calm and sunny the Sedge would have been up singing but not tonight Josephine.
Swifts and House Martins were piling over along with a few Swallows and the Lapwings were creating down in the bottom fields so it could be good news for the chicks.
Strangely only the one Whitethroat making a brief appearance.
Nothing on the NK pond and Raggalds Flood is just another field.
