Raggalds Flood
75 % Common gulls at the flood
Shelf Moor, mixture of Starling and Redwing
Redwings
Trailer park field
Amazing how they land and all face the exact same way
Christmas Eve dip.
A much colder day with less slightly less wind but some heavy hail showers around lunch time.
Mid morning saw 35 Redwing over the garage >SW and stragglers moving most or the morning.
A dinner time dash to firstly Raggalds Flood then Shelf Moor found similar at both sites.
Raggalds Flood held 84 Lapwing mainly by the water but several sheltering nearer the road under the banking almost out of sight in the long grass.
41 small gulls comprised of 75 % Commons and the rest Black Headed. 2 Pied Wagtails were also present.
Shelf Moor trailer park and adjoining fields were alive with feeding Starling and Redwing with a few Fieldfare mixed in. Around 150 Starling and c80 Redwing were present whilst 2 seperate flocks of Lapwing, 86 and 124 were very mobile.
No sign of NKs Golden Plovers from yesterday but didnt have time to check surrounding fields.
Just leaves me now to wish you all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS. Get plenty to eat and drink then you can spend time on Boxing Day walking it off whilst birding.
All the best from Brian and Lynda.
