The elusive Whinchat

     Whinchat from a distance

Thanks to Denise S for calling in the garage this morning to tell me the Old Guy Rd Whinchat was showing well so on the way to Halifax shopping we stopped off to find Denise with the bird in her sights. Managed a few distant photos but after seeing the state of the above I went back this evening for some better shots but after just over 1 hour of searching the whole area all I could come up with was 8 Wheatear between Micklemoss and the bailed field including the opposite side of the road..
I was intending to go up Ringby Top but ran out of time so checked Green Lane to find it near void of birds other than a few Swallows over and a dozen small gulls.
The sky over Roper Lane was alive with Swallows and House Martins all >SW plus 1 Sparrowhawk. Thanks again to hawkeyed Denise for the info.
