Soil Hill pm

Tried to beat the weather front to Soil Hill but failed. By the time I arrived at 1600hrs horizontal rain brought across by a W>6 soon got me nicely soaked. The low cloud base was just covering the top of the mast but lowering rapidly.
All was not lost as walking up past the mast I flushed 2 f Mallard from the first pond followed by 2 Teal which put the spark back in me.
I checked the SEO area and the NK pond for the Tufted but no results for either.
All yesterdays Mipits had gone in this mornings move but the Skylarks were still there with several Goldfinch on the flower tops taking the seed. Desperate for some sort of photo today I got my back to the wind and rain to get some snaps of the Goldfinch but suddenly a bank of fog covered the top of the hill shutting visibility down to 10 yds so that was the end of story at 1630hrs .
