1 of 6 Oystercatchers
1 pair Ringed Plover
Single Common Sandpiper
Luckily the moderate SW>5 cleared the overnight fog by 0600 hrs leaving it cold in the wind and constant drizzle at 7 degrees. During the watch the wind eased to SW>3 with full cloud cover but light with good visibility.
A livelier morning than yesterday but still not up to scratch for the time of year when I should be over-run with Wheatear, along with Ring Ouzel sightings. At least I'm lucky to have arriving waders despite the lack of shore and the birds are having to stick to the banking, though fortunately there is plenty food with the ground being so wet and soft. Hopefully we are heading for a drier spell which will soon expose some shore as the reservoir valve is constantly open to feed the stream.
Redshanks, Ringed Plovers, Oystercatchers and a single Common Sandpiper were present along with Curlew and Lapwing. Hopefully I'll soon be joined by Dunlin which are due in just over a week.
Otherwise, just the usual species along with 3 LBB gulls, a pair of Pied Wagtail and a distant Stonechat.
A fog warning for morning until midday then a moderate sou'westerly and rain. Hopefully they are wrong!
