Fly Flatts reservoir

                                    4 Ringed Plover present.

A half decent morning at Fly Flatts with a low cloud base just above the turbines but otherwise clear visibility. Some heavy rain showers on a moderate SW>4 at 6 degrees. Water is gushing down the overflow and breached the banking in places.
Despite the disappointing water level waders were good with 4 Ringed Plover, 4 Redshank and 6 Oystercatchers as well as the breeding Lapwings and Curlews.
Just 2 LBB gulls getting moved on their way by Lapwings whilst a noisy Raven was over the Nab.
Otherwise, just down to a few Meadow Pipits plus the usual Canadas and Greylags, with only male Mallards showing now with the females off sitting eggs, whilst a Kestrel worked the west bank.
A check of all the Wheatear and Ring Ouzel hotspots came back negative, this is the latest ever for returning Wheatear at this site.
The weekend sounds a bit birding unfriendly with heavy rain, thunderstorms and gale to severe gale force sou'west and south. Possibly a window early morn tomorrow before the wind picks up towards midday? The first day of sailing at the club on Sunday which looks unlikely to happen given the conditions.
