My sort of weather this morning which is ideal for reservoir watching with full cloud cover and a mix of light and heavy rain throughout the watch. A light W>3 at 9 degrees.
Plenty activity today which started up with a move of Cormorant heading west in twos and threes with a total of 11 birds, 3 of which dropped onto the water, which is a very rare occurrence for this species, although it didnt take them long to suss out that this is a fish-less stretch of water.
LBB and Black Headed gulls were heading >SE whilst several Swallows skimmed the water heading >N. New in were 3 more Ringed Plover making 5 present as well as another drake Tufted making 2 drakes and 1 female on the water. More male Wheatear came through with 8 counted whilst a Snipe was up drumming over the moor.
Usual, well established Common Sandpipers and Redshank were making the use of the small areas of shore but Dunlin seem to be heading straight through so far, plus still waiting for Sanderling.
The dreaded fog forecast for morning, courtesy of a light north easterly.
