New chicks for Fly Flatts

                                Plenty squabbling with the Dunlins
                                7 present today

                                    Displaying
Ringed Plovers with 2 of 3 chicks.
                                Looking very vulnerable.

A much better morning with the fresh SW>3 keeping the flies down and better birding conditions without the sun at 9 degrees.
The highlight of the morning was the long awaited arrival of 3 Ringed Plover chicks after the female being absent for over 3 weeks. This is more than likely the original pair that arrived late February and have bred in the same area for 4 years rearing 6 young but losing several. These 3 chicks just need to keep their heads down now for 24 days before they fledge.
A second pair of Ringed Plover are showing no signs of breeding as yet.
A count of 7 Dunlin today with plenty displaying and aggression towards each other whilst the usual Common Sandpipers, and Redshank are present with now 3 Oystercatchers.
A single female Wheatear is still hanging on around the boatyard and 3 Skylark were up singing, a rare occurrence for this site.
Forecasting a day of rain tomorrow with a very light breeze west then moving slowly around to the east.
