Single LBB gull
1st winter Black Headed
2nd winter Herring
Black Headeds lining up to be checked for Meds.
1st and 2nd winter Herring
Another morning of dense fog up on the tops so another birding session abandoned.
1110 hrs and a call from DJS reporting an Iceland gull at Mixenden reservoir then a text at just after midday from NK reporting the gull had left.
Due to a shopping spree it was 1330 hrs before I arrived at Mixenden with dark clouds, a cool SW>3 and light drizzle.
By this time most of the gulls had already moved on leaving just a single LBB along with 2 Herring gulls, a 1st and a 2nd winter. Around 50 Black Headed and 21 Commons were also present and nothing in the way of waterfowl.
A good check of Black Headed gulls coming and going in hopes of a Med gull failed to find anything special and by 1445 hrs near enough all the gulls had left for their roost site which interestingly today was to the east towards Eccup reservoir.
An interesting talk to a health fanatic who every day strips down to his shorts and submerges himself up to his neck in the reservoir for about 10 minutes. He told me when you come out of the water its a sensational feeling getting rid of all aches and pains and clears your head of any problems. I wasnt convinced enough to try it and I think it would take more than a dip in the ressie to get get rid of all my aches and pains.
