Wigeon for Fly Flatts, a.m/p.m. (no public access.)

                                         Fieldfares over the western ridge
                                           Single Cormorant high and >S
                           Several squadrons of Starling through.

                                       5 Wigeon present
                                  Very distant across water
                                  Nearly missed in with Mallards

A disappointing watch hampered by low cloud base so only the low flying birds counted until near the end of the watch. As yesterday winter thrushes were moving in good numbers but mostly to the eastern side of the east ridge with just one good flock of Fieldfare and a scattering of Redwing.
No Pink Footed today although blog watcher Peter Turner text me with a skein over Norwood Green this morning, thanks for that Peter.
Clear skies late afternoon and the highlight being 5 Wigeon in with Mallards but way over in the NW corner. These were very nearly missed as there was 4 Teal present this morning and the smaller ducks this afternoon were taken as the same Teal . Luckily there was a record number of ducks and it was whilst counting them I picked out the Wigeon, which just shows once more, you can,t take anything for granted.
