In search of a Caspian. Redcar Tarn stage two. If you dont like gulls look no further.

There are 2 suspect Caspian or Herring x Caspian at
Redcar Tarn now under investigation.

                                               Ad Herring

These Caspian type stand out with white heads

                     Scrapping among the juvs

                       7 f Goosander present

Back to Redcar Tarn this morning with fog and heavy rain on the tops.
Clear at the tarn but dark and heavy rain, sleet and some snow continuous through the morning at 4 degrees.
My mission was to get some more pics of yesterdays suspect Caspian but today another bird was present but a 2nd winter making it difficult for me to know which bird I was working with, especially with steamed up bins and dripping wet. All the same, an enjoyable morning and a good 5 laps around the water with the dogs.
Next job is to sort out the gulls which are under investigation.
Late afternoon the rain had actually stopped at Fly Flatts with some bright sky on a cold NNW>4. The water on Thursday was at an all time low and Bentleys were planning a start on the reservoir base on Monday but today the water level is back up to where it was a month ago and water still gushing in from all directions.
Bird wise all was quiet other than the usual Mallards.
