A day best forgotten.

Water going down the drain, Fly Flatts

Hope these 3 Tufted keep out of the way.
Merlin with Mipit in its sights
Naf pics taken into the sun p.m.

                                               A 2nd Merlin joins in
All 3 birds flying round at an amazing speed.

Mipit bottom left seemed to escape.

Amazing that looking on Trektellen most watch points had their best day yet , several reporting around 4000 Pinks and massive numbers of Mipits, whilst I had my worst day yet. With the usual thick fog at Fly Flatts I risked Ogden which was a bit ambitious for a weekend but even there the mist was only just above the plantation with no signs of anything on the move at all.
A single drake Tufted was on the water with a few small gulls whilst 2 Grey Wagtails, along with several Jays and Blackbirds were around the fringes of the water.
By 0900 hrs boredom had set in and with cars piling into the car park at a frightening rate it was time to get out of there and head for the Ned Hill watch point which was also in the mist so up stumps and head for home.
Late afternoon at Fly Flatts in reasonable conditions with a light SW>3 and broken cloud with some sunshine but once again extremely quiet.
Yesterdays Mallards had gone with just 3 Tufted on the water as well as 4 LBB gulls and 1 Black Headed.
A walk the full length of the west bank produced nothing on the shorelines or in the air other than 2 Merlin in a very high speed chase of a single Mipit which amazingly could move and dodge as fast as them and even with a bird closing in at either side it dropped low below the sky line seeming to escape.  Not easy to keep the camera on their high speed aerobics and unfortunately they were between me and the sun and no time to reset as it was all over in 30 seconds.
A forecast of a misty, cloudy start and rain throughout most of the day for tomorrow, no change there then.
