A true taste of Visible Migration. Fly Flatts (no public access)

2 female Goosander over, a rare sight for this location

Pink Footed Geese on the move

                                                 Golden Plovers >NW
                                        8 Wheatear present

                                         4 juv Alba Wagtails present

5 Golden Plover on the south bank

c 50 Goldfinch present on thistles
                                   43 goldfinch >W
                                     1 of 3 Raven

Pinks over the west ridge >SW

Distant Pinks to my east beyond the Nab >SE

Perfect conditions at Fly Flatts with good visibility, a light W>2 increasing W>3 p.m. and full cloud cover in the morning with clouds breaking up to 5 okts late afternoon with a start off temperature of 9 degrees.
The whole area was buzzing this morning with birds in the air and on the deck. Mipits were piling over but well under counted with just too much to look at and photograph.
The highlight was my first autumn Pinkies over with 3 small skeins , the first heading >SW with 31 birds, the second with 9 birds >SE and the third heading >SE with 40 birds but very distant to me. Good to be in phone contact with HC over the Nab at his watch point passing Pinkie sightings to and fro.
A group of 3 Golden Plover came over as I was in the NW corner and as I got back to the south shore 5 more were on the mud and still present late p.m.
An absolutely amazing morning with the afternoon being much quieter which is to be expected.
Two quarter of an hour checks for the Black Redstart failed to find it. This is the longest I have watched without it showing but it doesnt mean to say it has gone.
To end a good day on a good note, a message from HC reported the Roller being re located at 1430 hrs today by RP over Oxenhope heading towards Leeshaw reservoir.
