Making the best of a bad job , foggy Fly Flatts

Peering through the banks of fog at the wind turbines.

                                  Wheatears on the shoreline.

A difficult morning with banks of fog rolling through the area making birding frustrating with one minute clear and by the time I,d had a quick scan round another bank of fog had rolled in. I always had misty vision across the water and around the ponds but very few openings when I could check the east bank. A mixture of rain and drizzle on a very light SE>2 was present throughout.
During one clear period I scoped a single Ringed Plover and a Redshank on the east bank along with 2 adult and 2 juv LBB gulls whilst 3 Wheatear were on the shoreline below the boathouse.
Some sky movement with Swallow, Swift and BH gulls whilst 4 early moving Snipe headed >W.
Nice to talk to HC this morning, via the phone, whilst he was up on the top road hoping for the fog to clear.
No afternoon watch today as things to do but looking across from Queensbury the fog was still hanging around. Hopefully the strong west wind promised for tomorrow will clear the fog away..
