East bank cobbles
South shore.
Plenty Swifts through
blowing at 33 m.p.h. with horizontal drizzle throughout. By late afternoon the wind had eased to W>6 at 28 m.p.h. with clear skies and sunshine.
Despite an extensive search of all the shorelines no waders were present unless any were squat down in the channels.
Swallows were piling through very low and >W into the wind whilst Lesser Black Backed gulls moved >SW. Up to 5 Wheatear were on the east bank along with 3 juv LBB gulls.
On the late afternoon watch a few straggler Swallows were still going through >W with Swifts also heading west into the wind. The Swifts were on 2 levels with some very high birds and others skimming the water. They were moving on a broad front, also being picked up at Luddenden Dean ( DJS , JS ).
The Yellow Legged Herring gull that was seen here on the 9th re- appeared way over on the NE corner but only stayed enough time to freshen up then headed over the Nab towards TMR.
Tomorrow could be interesting with heavy rain and strong south winds forecast with the strong winds continuing over the weekend.
