Match Abandoned and more on the subject of Snow Bunting.

With dense fog and heavy rain throughout the day even the hardiest of upland birders have to admit defeat and throw in the towel sometimes so risking suffering from withdrawal symptoms I ended up with a very wet dog walk over Foxhill hoping for a better day tomorrow.
Continuing on yesterdays subject of Snow Buntings I,ve put together a few images of the Snow Bunting twitch on Ringby Top where DJS came across a
female nivalis Snow Bunting which stayed 24th, 25th, and 26th of February  2017 .
This was the second twitch in the same field on Ringby Top when a Shorelark was found on Boxing day 2006 and stayed until the 30th December allowing several birders to see this rare bird for our area. Ian Greenwood was the finder, or rather his wife, when she asked him what that yellow bird was  in the grass.  This was my 4th Shorelark for the area , the previous being 1 on the west bank at Fly Flatts feeding on Gordon Denisons seed , 2/11/2002 and 2 on Soil Hill 10/11/2003 which ironically were also feeding on Gordons seed.

You,ve got to admit, Snow Bunts are stunning.
Unusual for Snow Bunts but this bird preferred
    feeding in the long grass

                                                 The twitch is on.

Hopefully the next Snow Bunting twitch will be coming to a habitat near you, soon.
