Fly Flatts first light this morning was just below the cloud base with the wind turbines hidden and odd clouds of mist drifting across the water.. The snag this morning was the wind which was blasting across the water at NW>7 near gale at 35 mph stirring up the water with a deep swell and waves crashing over the banking. A walk on the west bank had to be aborted with the wind threatening to take me off my feet and the dogs getting lashed with their ears flapping.
Most of the watch was then spent sky watching from the shelter of the tailgate stood behind the car.
A single Wigeon was the highlight of the morning which attempted to land on the waves but then thought against it heading off >NE. 3 Raven were up over the Nab briefly along with a Buzzard whilst several Mallard flew up from Dean Head to settle on the east banking. Plenty BH gulls about this morning obviously not stressed by the wind but otherwise quiet skies.
