Trees seen walking to and at work
Popular Goldfinch feeding area on the seeds
Chapel Lane
Corner of Colditz car park.
Another rude awakening this morning with a good depth of snow blanketing the village and continuing most of the day turning to light rain for a period before returning to snow after dark.
Looking bad for the first Fly Flatts seed drop this weekend unless a miracle occurs and the snow goes.
The problem with the feeding area at times of a heavy thaw or heavy rain the seed just gets washed away as water runs down the track.
I,ll see how it goes and may have to put it off till next week although it is early yet as Twite, or Pennine Finches as they are known, have not left their coastal wintering grounds at yet.
They usually arrive back to the moorland mid March which is a good time to attracted them artificially as seed is in short supply.
Twite are our only moorland passerine that feeds entirely on seed and even rear their young on it.
