Waxwing invasion for Queensbury

Ive been checking these berries since the last visit in November

Started with 52 by Foxhill park

Took these last 4 shots through bedroom window
across other side of Foxhill estate
            Flock built to 72

                                     Heading off >SW towards Ovenden

Just goes to show with birding, I spent 2hrs late afternoon trekking Soil Hill, Old Guy Rd, Trailer park field, Corporal Hill, Green Lane and the Causeway Foot col mainly searching for Wheatear and came home with nothing worth mentioning and quickly losing the will to live. A quick car wash and some tea and whilst washing up and gazing out of the window, a trick I learnt from DJS, I saw a flock of suspicious looking Starlings near some berry bushes that held Waxwings briefly back in November on the edge of Foxhill park.
A quick squint through the bins saw me hurtling up the park, camera in hand, WAXWINGS.
52 birds were attacking the berries in the bungalow gardens before moving to their front gardens. Getting pics was hard with plenty spoilt in the fading light but out of about 100 I managed to salvage some.
When I walked around the block the birds had gone but berries were all over the pavements showing they had moved the full length of the estate.
When I got back I looked out of the bedroom window and the flock of now 72 was at the other end of the estate near Fleet Lane before moving off to roost >SW towards Ovenden.
Thats the beauty of birding , anything can turn up when least expected. A great finish to the weekend.
