No zoom, out in the middle
Thanks to a sighting by S E Drake and a grapevine call from DJS this pm 6 more Whoopers turned up in the area at Ogden.
The day couldnt have been worse with dense fog and drizzle but thought it was worth an after work dash just to pick up a good record there.
I arrived at Ogden at 1745hrs in thick fog and on the edge of darkness limiting visibility to half way across the water so peering through the murk I set off to walk round with a pessimistic feeling.
Two single ducks some way out turned out to be 2 male Goldeneye and skulking around the edges was a Moorhen with another offshore, so far a good find even if I didnt get the swans.
A few yards further on and there was my target, 6 ghostly white shapes, as always, slap bang in the middle of the water. By now it was well on its way to darkness but with the camera on full zoom and the shutter taking what seemed like minutes to open and shut I snapped away laid on the banking to try keep the camera still, should have brought the tri pod, but managed to salvage a few record shots.
A good start to the year for me with Fly Flatts and now Ogden. Thanks to sedrake and DJS.
