This morning started off poor with mist and drizzle but by late morning it had turned horrendous with strong SW>5 and heavy rain, sleet and snow which brightened by mid afternoon with a touch of sunshine.
The one warming thing of the day was knowing that the local lads were out, despite the weather, checking the upland habitats with Fly Flatts, Soil Hill, Ogden reservoir, Back Lane Ogden and Oats Royd covered thanks to NK and DJS.
As their reports, Queensburybirder and Calderbirds, signs of spring are trickling in as they always do at this time of year when more birds slowly appear on each visit, unlike autumn when everything moves together in big numbers.
Queensbury itself was poor today with 6 remaining Common gulls around the rugby field and just the usual garden feeders although it was nice to listen to a Blackbird singing behind the garage for most of the day today. In the conifers here there is a constant daily battle between Blackbird, Dunnock, Robin, Magpie and Woodpigeon all scrapping for the same tree.
Not a good forecast for the weekend but I,ll be out there giving it a go, hope you are too.
