Bank Holiday Bonanza. Fly Flatts

Black Headed on the south shore

                                    1 of 4 Whinchat
                                    At least 9 Stonechat
                                        2 of 4 Whinchat

                                    1 of 12 Wheatear

                                        Adult and juv Wheatear
                                        Whinchat and Wheatear

A bright sunny morning as promised with 20% cloud on a light SW>2 at 15 degrees.
Once again a lack of waders which is understandable in the clear blue skies which will keep them moving. Apart from that, all the reservoirs are low, so the waders are spoilt for choice, so just a matter of luck to get them on your patch.
Just gulls on the shore with 18 LBB, 14 Black Headed and 3 Herring with just 5 Canada geese on the water. A juv Peregrine was on the south shore briefly as I arrived.
The morning was undoubtedly taken over with small passerines that had arrived since yesterday with a record count of 4 Whinchat, along with at least 9 Stonechat, 12 Wheatear and 6 Reed Bunting, as well as around 80 Meadow Pipits, all together in one area moving between the bracken and fence line.
A few Swallows >S although my watch was taken up with my head in the scope and view finder.
A mix of cloud and sunshine for morning with chance of an odd shower on a light sou'westerly at 14 degrees.
