And still the wind blew, Fly Flatts.

                                Single Common Sandpiper.

A windy morning with early dark clouds and drizzle but clearing by 0815 hrs to leave cloudy sunshine on a moderate WSW>4 gusting 5 at 12 degrees.
A very blustery walk along the west bank to the far NW corner only produced a single Common Sandpiper by the inlet along with 6 Kestrel on the north shore as well as 7 LBB and 2 Black Headed gull.
Very difficult scoping the shore in the wind, which blew the tripod over once, even though its a heavy Manfrotto aluminium job bought in 1989 to withstand the strong winds on Windy Corner, Thornton Moor reservoir where we did Visible Migration from. That was back in the days when there was an abundance of birds.
Back at the SE corner, at least 7 very flighty Wheatear were moving around the shoreline, all adults in smart autumn plumage. Otherwise, just down to the usual Pied Wagtails, Goldfinches and Mipits.
Forecasting a cloudy wet morning with still the moderate SSW wind at 2 degrees.
