How the wind blew, Fly Flatts a.m. / Ogden p.m.

FLY FLATTS            Just one pair of Ringed Plover

                                Few Herring gulls over

OGDEN                    Two ad LBBs present

Another very wild and wet morning at Fly Flatts with gale force SW>7 gusting 8 with torrential rain showers blown horizontally over the moor. Some very dark clouds and rainbows over the moor at a mild 5 degrees. By 0900 hrs I got 15 minutes sun before the rain returned lasting to the end of the watch.
Far too windy to risk the west bank today so stuck to the south bank and boat compound along with some sheltering behind the car tailgate.
Only one pair of Ringed Plover were showing in the usual place along with a Redshank whilst Greylag, Canada and Mallard were battling the waves.
The sky was busy but only with resident birds taking off and landing regular, regardless of the wind and rain. Several Curlew, Lapwing, Meadow Pipit, Skylark and Golden Plover were showing briefly all morning whilst 7 Herring gulls headed >NE.
Mid afternoon and another low expectancy visit to Ogden, ' if you don,t go, you don,t know', which was a little better than yesterday with 2 adult LBB gulls on the water and a single Greylag but no other gulls.
The west bank had at least 3 Chiffchaff calling as well as a Goldcrest and the usual Tit species. A Buzzard flew over Perseverance Road as I drove home.
Plenty rain and more strong westerlies promised for tomorrow.
