Goldies back at Fly Flatts. p.m. visit.

Golden Plover back on the Flat Moor

                                Flock of 34

                                Windsurfing season started
                                Jets screaming through
                                    2 pr Ringed Plover,  female

                                    male

A mid afternoon visit to Fly Flatts found it very windy with a moderate SW>6 gusting 7 then easing slightly with dark clouds and light showers at a warm 10 degrees.
The 3 male Ringed Plover have left the area leaving 2 pairs keeping a distance apart from each other.  With windsurfers back in action there was nothing on the water other than Canada geese under the bankings.
Plenty Curlews and Lapwings about and pleasing to get a Golden Plover flock back onto the Flat Moor after an absence of 4 years when the large flock were flushed by Sphagnum Moss planters.
Very little sky movement with just a single LBB gull >NE and 3 Herring gull >SE.
A good overnight fall of Meadow Pipits with the area alive with them at the moment.
