Signs of autumn and Foxhill Common Gulls

Leaves starting to show their autumn plumage

Common gull flock building in Foxhill park.

                                  Foxhill weather vane

Time to renovate the Gimbal Head
and tripod while I,m off the road.

Another dark, miserable wet day up on the tops so just down to watching and walking around Foxhill.
No fog today with the wind round to a light SW>3 with a mix of rain and drizzle most of the day. An odd burst of sun was very short lived before a real torrential shower.
Woodpigs were moving below the low cloud but only in flocks of 20 to 30 whilst Fieldfare came in dribs and drabs with both these species moving through to the east of me.
Redwing and Chaffinch came overhead as well as Starling, the latter moving in their usual migration direction of >NW. Common gulls were up to 38 along with 2 Pied Wagtail and 5 Collared Dove on the top pitch.
It will be interesting to see the water level at Fly Flatts now after not being up there for over a week after all this heavy rain. Luckily the shore lasted throughout the wader passage so now I,ll be depending on fly overs and wildfowl, thats when I eventually get the car back!
