Ogden/Mixenden

MIXENDEN                        Very few big gulls present

2 adult Whoopers found earlier by NK
Buzzard mobbed by Crows and Magpies.

                                         A good find by NK.

Kept out in the middle by people on the shore line.
                                          LBB photo bombing

With strong winds and heavy rain early a.m. I ditched Fly Flatts for Ogden to check the gull situation which was,nt one of my better ideas. Ogden obviously isn,t a gull place early morn with 14 BH, 2 Common and 2 LBB gulls and nothing on the water so up stumps and back home.
A call from NK decided me my early afternoon venue with his report of 2 Whooper Swans on Mixenden and, although it was Saturday afternoon, the weather was poor so luckily kept most of the nurds away with just a few folk walking around the waters edge keeping the Whoopers well out in the middle as well as the few gulls.
The Whoopers were becoming very noisy and neck bobbin but were still there when I left. Very few gulls with 8 LBB, 2 Herring and around 30 small gulls whilst a Buzzard overhead was being heavily mobbed by Magpies and Crows.
Thanks for the call Nigel. I check Mixy every morning that I go to Fly Flatts looking down from the top of Whitegate but at the moment the water is so low that I can only see a small percentage of the water.
