Fly Flatts, if this is autumn, bring on winter.

Bright and sunny blue skies everywhere this morning until I arrived at Fly Flatts to be greeted with the usual thick bank of cloud across the west bank along with some heavy early morning drizzle on a W>3 at 8 degrees.
A slight rise in the water level but still acres of muddy shore and still not a wader in sight other than 2 Lapwing on the north shore, a species thats been noticeable by its absence this year along with Golden Plover. The Fly Flatts October lull has well and truly got a grip at the moment which seems to happen annually, especially with waders. After getting an 18 wader species count in the spring/summer it seems strange that this site never produces any returning birds.
A mega boring morning with 15 Mallard, 2 Tufted and 8 Canada on the water, 2 Lapwing on the shore and a single Raven overhead.
As I dropped down to Wainstalls on the way home a few Mipits were heading >S.
Supposedly dry tomorrow but back to the strong south wind.
