A very early returner to Fly Flatts ( permit only)

LEESHAW RESERVOIR                  2 Little Owls present.

A small number of Greylag today
FLY FLATTS                      Very early returning Ringed Plover, male

At last, a clear bright day with broken cloud and sunshine at 4 degrees but still the strong W>4
Leeshaw was much quieter than yesterday with only around 50 small gulls and 2 Herrings on the water along with 2 Cormorant and around 20 Mallard.
A few more geese today with 6 on the water and 8 fly overs whilst a small group of 12 Lapwing kept very mobile. The 2 Little Owl look settled now back in their usual summer location.
A very windy Fly Flatts mid afternoon, and again, very few birds with just Red grouse and Kestrel and no signs of  Mondays Oyk.
Things brightened up when a scan of the shoreline produced a single male Ringed Plover squat down in the stones out of the wind making it very hard to spot. This is my earliest ever returning Ringed Plover and is probably the male that bred last year losing the chicks from 2 broods. Last year it arrived on the 28th Feb which made it the first Feb Ringed Plover I have had.
All I need now is the water to go down as at the moment it is well in flood with very limited shore showing.
