Ogden/ Oxenhope reservoir( members only).

OGDEN                           Black Headed gull was about as good as it got.
Note how size is deceiving when centre bird turned sideways.
                                well camouflaged Treecreeper

                          Distant pair of Goosander.
                                           Very few Common gull

                                                   BHG
Male Gt Spotted Wdpecker,  2m 1f present

OXENHOPE RESERVOIR               6 Red Legged Partridge on the banking.
Herring gulls on the rough water.
The famous Vis Mig Windy Corner.
Along the bank to Soil Hill
The Nab on the right, the Sacrifice Stones to the left.
                                            Looking towards Fly Flatts.

With nothing in the local gull fields I moved on to Ogden to find yet again very few gulls and no big gulls. A moderate S>4 was blowing but mild at 7 degrees with early rain which soon cleared up but leaving a very dark sky.
A pair of Goosander were on the water and passerines were a bit more lively around the west bank. A pair of Kingfisher flew across the water and 3 Gt Spotted Woodpeckers were in the edge of the wood. A check of the Goldcrests failed to find a Firecrest in the same area as the last one but 3 Treecreepers were a bonus.
Oxenhope reservoir was wild and damp with a strong S>5 gusting 6 and increasing.
The water was very rough which soon broke up any chance of a roost as the gulls started leaving east towards Esholt though the count was very low.
Rough as it was, the water held Goldeneye, Teal, Mallard, Goosander and Canadas whilst a mixed flock of Lapwing, Golden Plover and Starling were very mobile over the Shay fields below Soil Hill.  Four species of game bird were present with Red Legged and Grey Partridge, Red Grouse and Pheasant whilst a single Curlew flew across the western ridge and landed on the Shay fields.
