Frozen grass at Fly Flatts
A good sign when the Canadas come back to the water.
New book just out, more ammunition for the fight against fly overs.
A lot of book for the price.
Especially useful during Visible Migration period.
An icy cold morning at Fly Flatts at -1 degrees rising to 0 degrees on a calm E>3 with 50% cloud cover and some sunshine but pleasant to be out in.
January went out well for me yesterday but the only good point about February coming in is, it can only get better.
Herring gulls were the highlight of the day with a continuous move >NE but only in 1s and 2s whilst several Canadas were moving high and east throughout the day with 5 still present on the water along with 4 Mallards.
Both the Canada and Herring gull move continued over Ringby Top which was otherwise void of bird life apart from the usual Corvids plus a hardy Robin and 2 Dunnock which have remained on the top throughout the winter. No Pinks showing today but I think we,ll have more over before the month end as well as Whoopers.
The new I.D. book I ordered arrived today and looks the part being a good thick robust book packed with illustrations as well as information on calls and jizz. Certainly one that needs a home on your bookshelf.
