Distant shot in fading light, Shelduck >NE
Juvenile Common gull, not a Common sight.
With no time for birding throughout the day a combined dog walk and Ogden check were in order although by the time I got parole it was 1900 hrs and already dark night clouds moving in. Evening birding is rapidly drawing to a close.
Just a scattering of BHGs and LBBs were around the water with 1 juv Common gull, not something we see a lot of in this plumage.
Overhead was alive with Swallows and House Martins and as I left in near dark the telephone wires along Ogden Lane were lined with Swallows.
Just as I,d given up hope of anything half exciting a Gt Spotted Woodpecker flew over the water towards the pine trees and as I had this in the bins a long necked duck in the background caught my eye, Shelduck, high up and heading NE from the direction of Fly Flatts. A good way to finish the visit.
