Another foggy morning on the tops with Ogden very misty but enough visibility over the water but no good for the camera. Dead calm at a milder 10 degrees.
A very lively morning on the water with the 3 Tufted ducks still present from last week along with a
single Wigeon, 4 Teal, 1 Little Grebe, 1 Goosander and a good count of Mallard all busy feeding on the weeds at the waters edge. Looks like this is going to be the site that provides any wildfowl this autumn/winter so I'll be spending a bit of time here over the coming months.
Around 60 small gulls, with is the norm for early morning, the big gulls rarely arriving until midday peaking around 1430 hrs pre roost at this site.
Nothing overhead in the low cloud but lively around the track side trees with a Tit flock starting to build with mainly Long Tailed and Coal plus a few Great Tit, but no Blue Tits. The Chaffinch flock seemed to have moved on, despite there being ample weeds on the shore but possibly due to the amount of disturbance.
Just 2 Goldcrest and a Treecreeper but need Firecrest and Yellow Browed Warbler, with good numbers of the latter arrived up north. Otherwise, just down to the usual woodland species but this site producing much more than Fly Flatts and Leeshaw at the moment.
More cloud for morning with a light NW slowly turning NE at 10 degrees.
