A foggy start
Clearing slowly
Hanging low over the water
Where's the water ?
Canadas in the fog
Clear at last but short lived
Plenty gulls around
Flock of 48 Lapwing
Black Headed gull
Wren
Dunnock
Great Tit
The small common birds get taken for granted.
A toss up where to go this morning with large fog banks spread around, some down in the valley whilst others were up on the tops. Leeshaw was unfortunately in the fog at the start before clearing by 0900 hrs but returned by 0930 hrs blanking off the water but leaving a clear blue sky. A very light NW>1 at a record low of 4 degrees for this autumn.
Luckily, as the first deep bank of fog cleared I had time to scope all the reservoir and shoreline before the second bank arrived blanking off the water but leaving clear blue sunny skies above.
The only sky birds were gulls, with around 200 mixed, whilst a flock of 48 Lapwing were constantly
moving around the fields and shore.
A few grounded birds were present with Wren, Great Tit, Meadow Pipit and 5 Mistle Thrush whilst the track top field held 16 Grey Partridge and 22 Pheasant.
A light wind for morning SW turning S and then SE with cloud and fog at 10 degrees. No change there then!
