Ever watchful Heron.
Single female Wheatear
3 Black Headed Gulls
2 Ad. Herring gull Soil Hill field.
A cloudy start to the morning with full cloud on a moderate E>4 at 6 degrees and damping in the air but visibility was good.
With reports of Black Tern on the move, the nearest being Manchester, S.J. I headed for Leeshaw which is the most likely of my 3 reservoirs to pick up Tern species, Osprey and gulls.
An active morning, despite no target birds but still getting gulls through with 9 LBB, 4 Herring and 3 Black Headed. Still no sign of Common Sandpiper here and the Dunlin long gone though there is plenty exposed shore holding just the usual Redshanks, Oystercatchers, Curlew and Lapwings whilst the water just held Geese and Mallards.
Plenty small passerines through this morning with 4 Pied Wagtail, 1 Grey Wagtail, several Meadow Pipits, 3 Blackbird and a single female Wheatear. A Heron and Cormorant were on the shore.
A couple of adult Herring Gulls were in the Soil Hill reservoir field as I drove past.
A very light easterly for morning with cloudy sunshine starting off at 4 degrees.
