Fly Flatts/ Ogden

FLY FLATTS                                            Juv Redshank

Shoreline crawling with Wheatear, 14 counted

                                                      Single Raven over

OGDEN                                              Another low gull count

                                                           Mostly LBBs
                                                      About 10 Herring
                                               5 Common gull
                                          This individual  1cy looked interesting

Could,nt make it into anything so go for LBB.

No ad YL Herrings for a few days now.

A very windy wet morning up at Fly Flatts with a moderate SW>4 gusting 5 with full cloud cover and drizzle turning to heavy rain, despite a forecast for dry.
The waders were very distant today way over on the north mud, with yesterdays juv Dunlin still present plus a new in, Common Sandpiper and juv Redshank along with a Snipe, briefly on the south shore.
The south shore was alive with Wheatear once again but the birds are very distant this year due to the amount of shore. Nothing in the misty sky other than a few gulls and a single Raven.
A mid afternoon gull check at Ogden once again found a poor count and for some reason the birds have suddenly stopped using the west shore and instead congregate on the east side which is more prone to disturbance.
After walking the east track to the bridge and back there was no signs of the Green Sandpiper on either shore although I did,nt do the west track with no gulls being present. The bird has either left or was keeping its head down in the wind although NK did find and photographed the bird earlier in the day, see Nigels blog.
