A morning of thick fog and heavy rain, sleet and snow but easing by mid afternoon.
A mid afternoon visit to Mixenden found it in very dark cloud with light rain showers on a W>3 at 3 degrees.
Just down to the gulls again today with a single male Goosander on the water and nothing in the waterside trees. I keep trying for the Ring Necked Parakeets but nothing as yet in the new year.
Around 75 small gulls with 14 1st winter Herring and 3 adults plus a single sub adult Lesser Black Backed still with pink legs.
One of the adult Herrings had yellow legs but a very pale yellow tinged plus a fair amount of head streaking putting it a Herring gull rather than a michahellis.
The third gull of interest which stood out was a 1st winter Common gull but still in partial juvenile plumage which is a stage that we rarely see them in as they are usually further developed by the time they return to this area.
More rain and a moderate westerly again for tomorrow but at least its shifting the snow.
