                                                                    1st winters

Once again Leeshaw reservoir saved the morning being below the fog which was hanging over the tops.
Miserable conditions with a mix of heavy rain and drizzle on a S>2 but very mild at 12 degrees.
This did,nt stop the birds moving with a reasonable morning with two show stealers, Whooper Swans and Snipe, though the Whoopers only showed for seconds between the clouds but luckily their noise got me on to them. Redwing and Starling were on the move whilst Meadow Pipits are still coming through.
A field full of geese was  encouraging but no specials among them after a careful scan through.
Better conditions mid afternoon with dark skies but mainly dry on a visit to Redcar Tarn, Keighley. As always, plenty of the 4 usual gull species with some beautiful looking Herring gulls still in summer plumage.
Good to bump into BV up there and an extra pair of eyes was useful to scour through the gulls in hopes of Caspian, Yellow Legged Herring and Med gull . A sub adult Caspian gull was present which I suspected as being different and later picked up from blog photos by KM and seconded by MC.  More pics and report to follow on tomorrows blog.
The water held several Tufted duck and Mallard as well as Mooren, Coot and geese. No sign of any Brambling in the usual trees at yet
