Good weather for waders at last plus a bit of snow, Fly Flatts, (no public access)

                                     6 Greylag goslings
Alive with small waders today  Dunlin
                                               Ringed Plover, male

A second pair of Greylag arrived + Canadas with young
                                         Barnacle out on the water
                                          and on the shore

                                            Male Ronged Plover

                                         female Ringed Plover

At last, some decent Fly Flatts type weather which completely woke the area up out of its stagnated mode.
An icy cold ,strong NE>6 increasing >7 at 5 degrees with some heavy early morning drizzle and an odd snow flurry or two. Good to get back into the winter gear and out in some nice fresh air after the recent hot stuff.
The mud was alive with small waders dashing about like mice frantically probing for food. Its amazing how colder weather gets them mobile.
The Barnacle goose has suddenly come back to life as it was on the water and flying around today. Strange how it just sat in one spot for 2 days without moving. Perhaps its like me and does,nt like hot weather.
A second pair of Greylag arrived today whilst the other pair is still hanging on to 6 goslings . A pair of Tufted were on the water but soon moved on. Though conditions were perfect for Terns today very little was in the air and certainly no Terns which seem to be a bird of the past in this area now.
