Wild watch, Fly Flatts.

                                       Common Sandpipers always active.
                                               Gulls in the NE corner

                                        Single Ringed Plover present

A day of good watching conditions both morning and afternoon with rain showers throughout and a little bit too strong NE>6 with 100% cloud cover and good visibility.
The early morning and late afternoon watches amounted to more or less the same with plenty to keep me occupied even though it was very quiet on the wader scene.
This month now is a matter of watching and waiting in a hope that something drops out of the sky onto the shoreline, especially in conditions such as today when you can almost smell moving birds.
Unfortunately today it never happened although I did have several birds on the move overhead plus all the usual species on the deck being very active as always in this sort of weather.
Bentleys are up there daily now measuring up ready for the big start although the site foreman was,nt too impressed with the June weather which I told him to get used to it as today was one of the better days. They were looking to see where all the cabins are going to be placed so maybe they,ll be an extra one for a bird hide but I tried that one last year with them which did,nt work.
This time they are having a security guard living on site 24/7 till the work is done. That would have been a good job for me!
