Long staying Ringed Plover still present.
Only around 100 gulls today
More LBBs than Herrings
Plenty LBBs still with pink legs/
The Herring gull on the right had a good head for a YL
until it showed its pink legs.
A real horror morning with horizontal drizzle blown across on a SW>4 then fogged off by 0930 hrs.
The afternoon was decent with 100% cloud cover on a SW>4 and light showers with good visibility.
Plenty activity with Curlews, Lapwings, Redshanks and Common Sandpipers around the remaining shoreline with the long staying Ringed Plover still present though I can safely say now that after an absence of 4 days there are no Dunlins left in the area.
Big gull numbers were down to just over 100 today but with a good scope through and photos to study at home there was nothing special though always interesting
to scan through noting the different age stages. Several of the LBBs still had pink legs whilst the butch looking head on one Herring gull put me in mind of Yellow Legged until it stood up revealing its pink legs. No sign of the summer plumaged Common gull that I had amongst them yesterday afternoon.
The shoreline is rapidly disappearing daily now with the east end down to a strip until it opens out more at the north end whilst the south shore is now up to the rocky barrier. All the SE ponds are showing and full of water. As soon as it stops raining, if ever, the drain is still open so shoreline will soon start to show again.
