Strange happenings at Fly Flatts. a.m/p.m.

                                   Squabbles with the Ringed Plovers

                                        Dunlin, Ringed Plover

A decent day weather wise with 100 % cloud cover, light drizzle showers throughout both morning and afternoon on a moderate SW>5 dropping to SW>4 in the afternoon.
Yesterday was alive with waders with a count of 26 Dunlin whereas today there had been a full clear out with this mornings watch only producing 3 Dunlin and 2 Ringed Plover along with 1 Redshank and 4 Common Sandpipers.
By late afternoon the job had deteriorated even more and after a full walk around and intense scoping the best I could find was 1 Ringed Plover, 1 Dunlin,
4 Common Sandpiper and 1 Redshank.
The pair of Tufted were present along with all the usual geese , Lapwings and Curlews but only 2 LBB gulls on the shore.  So how weird is that , where has everything gone? No doubt birds will return and new arrivals to look forward to but strange how everything can just disappear overnight.
Two Ravens flew over the turbines being mobbed with Curlew and Lapwing whilst Swifts came through >N continuously both morning and afternoon.
There are swarms of post breed Starlings up there at the moment with a flock of around 100 present in fields on Cold Edge Road whilst a massive group showed briefly over the Nab with around 200 birds.
