If you,re going to dip ,dip good and proper. Fly Flatts

Late afternoon and a one and a half hours watch at Fly Flatts set me an all time record of not a single bird seen, either on the deck, on the water or in the air. A real strange silence up there with conditions as this morning though a small increase in wind to NW>4 and darker skies. The fog was waiting
out on the wings along the western ridge waiting to roll in but not whilst I was there.
A walk full length of the west bank, a check of my 4 feeding areas, and a look around the boatyard failed to find me anything, even the Red Grouse were keeping their heads down. You,d think it impossible for there to be nothing in such a vast area but thats how it was tonight for some strange reason. Just one of the joys of birding.
A shopping spree earlier at Sainsburys Halifax did,nt turn up the elusive Waxwings re located again this morning by DJS , although there were plenty Redwings, Blackbirds and Mistle Thrush in the car park Rowans and at least 2 Brambling in Alders across Charlestown Road opposite Sainsburys by the flats.
Good to bump into DJS at Fly Flatts last light, the only living creature I,d seen up there.
