Double Dip.

Very distant Brambling/ Goldfinch flocks, Lane Head

A child minding evening so had to pick the grand daughter up from Sowerby Bridge so set off early for a quick check on the Lane Head Waxwings at 1500 hrs. Plenty Redwing there but I was told the Waxwings left at 1420 hrs towards Hipperholme but a few birders were still there hoping for their return but my suggestion was they would have moved off to roost as the Redwings did as I was leaving. An interesting talk to one of the residents there who said yesterday they were divided between the two Rowans with a count of 110. Theres still plenty berries left so no doubt they will return tomorrow.
There were at least 4 flocks of mixed Brambling/ Goldfinch moving around the area with about 30 birds per flock but all keeping a distance away and high up in the trees.
The second dip was as I got to Sowerby Bridge I spent 15 minutes in the Tuel Lane Lidl car park in hopes of yesterdays Ring Necked Parakeets but they never materialized either.
