Too Hot to Handle. Summertime Blues, Slaughter Gap.

Yet another day of hot stuff with possibly a continuation through the bank holiday which is the worst news since the pie and mushy pea cafe shut down at Queensbury.
With 21 degrees showing and very light SE>2 I knew the west bank at Fly Flatts would again be fly ridden plus the boats were out this afternoon as well as Cold Edge dams so I half heartedly set off for Slaughter Gap to give the Nolstar fields a good coat of looking at.
As expected, with the sun blazing down and very little breeze things were quiet and a check of 6 fields around Nolstar just revealed a few Mipits, Curlews and Lapwings along with 1 Redshank but no Goldies.
A scan from the top of Slaughter Gap produced a few Woodpigeons and corvids but the thoughts of scrambling back up the hill in the heat prevented me from going down on a Redstart hunt , plus it was too warm for the dogs out of the shade of the track so it was abort and head for home to catch up to some gardening, the front garden in the shade that is.
Sun and high temperatures forecast for tomorrow so it will have to be an early start before the heats on.
