Greenland Wheatears, Fly Flatts.

New jetty now complete. Unfortunately Canadas
have already left their mark on it.
Temptation got me snapping more Common Sandpipers.

Fly Flatts 1430 hrs with 80 % cloud cover and the wind shifting 360 deg from yesterday from NE to SW>6 blasting across the water at 25 mph.
After checking out yesterdays Wheatear on the computer as suspected Greenland( ssp leucorhoa ) plus a comment from AC I went in hope of  re locating the bird but the howling wind made it difficult. I finally caught up with the bird way across on Robin rocks standing out colour wise and size even at that distance with a second male nearby which was much paler and shorter legged . Further back beyond the rocks a female Wheatear stood out as also a Greenland with a dazzling bright breast looking like it was lit up. The pair flew north together landing on the end of the reservoir where hopefully I,ll pick them up again tomorrow .
Strangely I had a pair in the same area last year to the day 30/4/17 , these birds being confirmed by MC.
Thanks to AC for his interest.
Again the strong wind swept the sky clean of birds but there,s always the Common Sandpipers to keep me amused with 7 present today.

I had 24 birding sessions at Fly Flatts during April and put down 10 bags of Nyjer, 4 bags of wild bird seed and 3 bags of sunflower seed and enjoyed every minute of it, mad or what ?
