As good as it got. Curlew.
1445 hrs and back to Fly Flatts with the hopes of a better session than yesterday, fat chance!
Once again another dreaded bright mild day with sunshine and blue skies and all the distractions that go with it. Again a light SE>3.
The west bank was unbelievable with 3 families running about up and down the banking and around the feeding area which had cleared the Wheatears and any chance of Ring Ouzel. The water had been taken over with the fire brigade in rescue dinghies which I can,t complain about as it is a sailing club and I,m on their territory so once again it was down to sky watching until 4 very noisy quad bikes and 2 scrambles bikes started steaming up and down the top road spooking the dogs so it was time to up stumps and call it a day. The good news was there were no shooters present .
You can see why I had to intervene yesterday with the shooters from the Curlew pictures, this bird was up where they were shooting and if its easy to shoot with a camera its easy to shoot with an air rifle.
