Found dead in the edge of the water
Some sort of domesticated job
Will have to look this one up
Fly Flatts 0730-0930 hrs. Dense fog down to 25 yds, drizzle on a SE>4
Thick fog in Queensbury meant thicker fog at Fly Flatts but the object was to check the shoreline and feeding areas which I knew would be possible even in the conditions. Driving up there was horrendous being able to see about a car length in front of you but down by the water I was able to check the full south and west shoreline plus the feeding areas in hopes of Common Sandpiper but nothing as yet and no Wheatear or Ouzels around the feeding areas.
Half way along the west back I fished the above bird out of the water thinking it was a Red Legged Partridge but looks like some sort of domestic bird which has ended up in a strange place.
Up to 5 Redshank were along the west shoreline along with a building amount of Meadow Pipits with around 100 grounded birds present looking fresh in from yesterday.
A Snipe was on a fence post chipping and hardly visible in the murk whilst several Curlew, Canadas and Lapwing could be heard but not seen.
A real eerie feeling up there in the dense fog but at least it was nugget free.
