The beauty of Common gulls
Herring
1500 hrs and a trek in the mud up to Ringby Top after a day of snow , sleet and rain but cleared by this time leaving bright skies and sunshine on a cold W>4.
First job was a full zig zag search of the Bunting field firstly flushing a Snipe and then 2 Grey Partridge but we,ll have to wait for another day for a Bunting.
The Wagtail field held at least 14 Meadow Pipits and 4 Skylark but all very mobile and sticking to the blind side of the field.
After that it was an hour of 360 deg sky watching with good visibility but this failed to produce any Swan or Goose movement so soon wained off into a gull photographic session taking advantage of some decent light at last.
This location at present is booming with potential having good puddles in the short grassed Bunting field and the Wagtail field has been heavily ploughed leaving deep furrows and some good scrapes not unlike Soil Hill used to be and will be well worth watching for Little Ringed Plover, Yellow Wagtail and possible Dotterel come May time.
Good to see Woodcock are making a bit of a comeback at Ogden,( Halifax grapevine,) a real bogey bird for me.
