Ogden late visit.

2 Cormorant over very high and >NE

Late back from shopping today due to Lynda picking some bedroom wallpaper , another job for me.
We,d have been done quicker but Lynda looks at the boring things in wallpaper like colour and pattern whereas I look for sensible things like how much a roll, although I never win.
1500 hrs and a visit to Ogden to give the ice and snow chance to clear from Fly Flatts where a strong NW >5 was blowing but good visibility with 90 % cloud cover.
The 2 Shelduck which were reported via the grapevine had moved on which was expected, this species never hanging around our local waters for long which just left the usual small gulls and Mallards on the water  along with a single Cormorant whilst the Moorhen was again in the feeding corner.
Down in the sluice gate area the Kingfisher was way down at the far end and very hard to find amongst the branches of a small overhanging tree whilst 2 Cormorant flew over very high and >NE with the Ogden Cormorant following on shortly afterwards.
More Pinks on the move again today with a skein over Beacon Hill, Halifax at 1500 hrs (grapevine report) which was around 15 minutes before we parked below in Marks and Spencers car park, another near miss. Hopefully the big blast off will happen anytime now.
